Lenskart Raises AjnaLens Stake to 9.01% in Smart Glasses Push
Inc42 coverage shows Lenskart buying another 1.8% of AjnaLens for ₹8 crore, taking its holding to 9.01% as it builds around XR, AI and smart eyewear.

Lenskart has put another ₹8 crore into AjnaLens, raising its holding in the extended-reality startup to 9.01% as the eyewear retailer deepens its push into AI-enabled smart glasses, Inc42 detailed.
The latest stake purchase gives the transaction a measured rather than exploratory shape.
Lenskart acquired an additional 1.8% in AjnaLens parent Dimension NXG, moving from a 7.21% holding before the deal to just over 9%.
The company has now increased its AjnaLens stake by 4.17 percentage points across three transactions this year.
Those purchases began with an extra 0.68% in February and continued with another 1.69% in July.
The combined consideration for the three 2026 acquisitions stands at ₹18.5 crore, turning last year’s undisclosed initial investment into a more visible strategic position.
The regulatory filing linked the investment to Lenskart’s effort to build a stronger association with XR, AI and smart wearable technologies.
For a retailer known for frames and lenses, the stake supports a move from conventional eyewear into devices where display, sensing and software capabilities can become part of the product.
AjnaLens also brings a wider enterprise technology profile to the relationship.
Founded in 2014 by Pankaj Raut, Abhijit Patil and Abhishek Tomar, the startup develops hardware and software using XR technology.
Its learning solutions are aimed at defence, enterprise and other sectors, giving Lenskart a partner whose work extends beyond consumer eyewear alone.
The financial picture is more mixed than the strategic logic.
AjnaLens reported turnover of ₹10.4 crore in FY26, down 19% year on year from ₹12.8 crore in FY25.
That decline means Lenskart is increasing exposure while the startup is still trying to translate its XR capabilities into a stronger operating base.
The smart-glasses push did not start with this filing.
Lenskart first invested in AjnaLens in July last year, when the companies framed the partnership around AI-powered smart glasses.
The stated plan was to combine Lenskart’s frame design and engineering strengths with AjnaLens’ XR capabilities.
Lenskart has continued expanding its smart-glasses work since then, using acquisitions and investments to build around wearable technology rather than waiting for a single in-house product cycle.
The AjnaLens stake now gives that strategy a clearer transaction trail: three incremental purchases in one year, a 9.01% holding, and a defined bet that smart eyewear will need both optics expertise and XR software capability.
