Cloudflare Wallet Handles Push Stablecoins Into AI Agent Payments
Cloudflare has begun a wallet rollout that lets users claim handles now, with stablecoin funding and agent payment controls due later, The Block reported.

Cloudflare has started turning AI-agent payments from a standards project into an account-level wallet workflow, The Block reported, with wallet handles available before stablecoin funding and agent purchase features arrive later.
Cloudflare's release makes handle claiming the live first step: users can claim a Cloudflare Wallet handle tied to their account.
Stablecoin funding and software-agent purchase authorization are not yet live, with the release placing those functions on a "soon" timeline.
The wallet design splits control from execution.
According to Cloudflare, an Account Wallet lets individuals and organizations add funds and manage spending, while a Virtual Wallet works through API keys so agents can buy services on a user's behalf.
The Account Wallet remains the owner-control layer, while the Virtual Wallet handles agent-side transactions.
Spending limits are the main control mechanism.
Cloudflare's release puts merchant lists, allowances and transaction-size caps under owner control, giving an agent room to test low-cost APIs or online services without open-ended authority over the wallet balance.
The payment path relies on x402, a Coinbase-developed protocol for micropayments.
In that model, a website can return payment instructions when an agent requests access; the agent can then pay and receive the content, data or tool without a conventional account, subscription or pre-issued API key.
Cloudflare's wallet rollout follows the September 2025 x402 foundation launch with Coinbase and sits beside the company's Monetization Gateway for sellers.
The standards work also includes Visa, Mastercard and American Express efforts around identifying trusted AI agents.
The wallet links machine-to-machine payment rails with owner-defined controls for API providers, data sellers and content operators.
The rollout also covers AI inference, data, online content and tools, all within limits set by human owners.
Stablecoin funding and agent purchase authorization remain the activation points that determine whether the handle becomes a live payment tool rather than an identity marker.
