Slackbot Adds AI-Generated Reports and Dashboards to Slack Chats
Slackforce Surfaces lets users ask Slackbot to create interactive workplace tools from chat, with connected-app access limited by existing AI permissions and live-data support due in October.

Slack is moving AI-generated work tools into the chat window itself, with a Slackforce Surfaces feature that lets a user ask Slackbot to create an interactive report, poll, dashboard, presentation or microsite from a plain-language request, The Verge reported from the company’s launch details.
The workflow keeps the output inside Slack rather than sending users to a separate business-intelligence or presentation app.
Slackbot can draw on relevant conversations and connected applications, including Google Drive and Salesforce, when those sources are available to the workspace and permitted for AI access.
After a Surface is generated, teams can share it with colleagues, pin it to a channel, interact with it and leave comments.
Slack’s example showed a request for an arcade-themed visualization of AI token usage, which produced a dashboard splitting usage across sales, design and engineering divisions.
Ryan Gavin, Slack’s chief marketing officer, framed the feature as a way to keep analysis beside the discussion that triggered it.
In his account, teams can ask Slackbot to assemble a dashboard, deck or report in the same workspace where the conversation is unfolding, then move from that shared view to action together.
The release builds on Slack’s recent effort to make Slackbot act more like an AI assistant.
Earlier changes allowed it to summarize material across channels, search through messages and find meeting times, while Slack added collaborative vibe-coding channels last month.
Surfaces also creates a new permission boundary for Slack’s AI features.
The tool can build live dashboards for queues or forecasts that pull from connected apps, but Slack says it will use only information that a user has allowed its AI tools to access.
Availability is broad, though full live-data use is still staged.
Slackforce Surfaces is available to all customers, including free users, when Slackbot is enabled in the workspace, and live-data support is scheduled to begin in October.
