Apple Touchscreen MacBook Report Points To Late-October Hardware Slate
Apple is reportedly preparing a late-October touchscreen MacBook debut alongside an OLED iPad Mini and M6 updates for the entry-level MacBook Pro and iMac.

Engadget, citing Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, places Apple's first touchscreen laptop in a late-October hardware window, with the device expected to debut on or around October 27 rather than at a fully confirmed launch date.
The timing matters because Apple has kept touch input off the MacBook line even as the iPad and Mac hardware families have moved closer in chip design and productivity use cases.
Talk of a touch-enabled high-end Apple laptop has circulated since 2023, but the new window gives the long-running hardware story a narrower calendar marker.
The planned laptop would use a dynamic interface that shifts for different input modes.
It is also expected to run on the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips used in current high-end MacBook Pro models, because an earlier report indicated that pro-level versions of the next M6 chip are not planned for this release cycle.
Apple's October hardware slate is not limited to the touchscreen MacBook.
A refreshed iPad Mini is expected to move to OLED, while the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac are lined up for narrower chip updates built around the M6 introduced with the Mac mini refresh.
The entry-level MacBook Pro currently uses an M5 chip, while the iMac remains on M4.
The reported schedule also leaves Apple with two October hardware beats.
A separate smart-home gadget collection is slated for October 13, putting the MacBook, iPad Mini and desktop updates in a later event window.
That run of announcements follows the summertime debut of Apple's first foldable, the iPhone Duo.
