LiquidStack CDU 2.X Targets Higher-Density AI Data Centres
Network World reported that LiquidStack introduced CDU 2.X, a configurable coolant distribution platform for AI data centres that supports multiple deployment layouts, redundancy options and facility inlet temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius.

LiquidStack has introduced a configurable coolant distribution unit platform for AI data centres as operators prepare for accelerator racks that generate higher thermal loads.
Network World reported that the Trane Technologies business unveiled CDU 2.X at Yotta 2026 in Ireland with a design meant to support multiple generations of AI processors through a common cooling architecture.
The platform is aimed at a practical data centre problem: server vendors and operators do not want to redesign cooling infrastructure every time a new AI processor platform changes rack density or heat output.
CDU 2.X is architecture-agnostic, giving facilities a way to configure the cooling system around the site rather than forcing the site layout around a fixed CDU design.
The company rates the system for as much as 3,750 liters per minute of coolant movement at 3.5 bar.
That capacity is positioned for current high-performance GPU platforms while leaving additional headroom for denser future deployments.
Scott Smith, LiquidStack's general manager, framed the launch around operators whose cooling infrastructure has to keep pace with changing GPU platforms and rack densities.
The deployment options are central to the product.
CDU 2.X supports end-of-row and rack-adjacent installations, allowing data centre teams to place equipment closer to the thermal load or fit the unit into existing facility constraints.
Its configuration menu covers control valves, power feeds, redundancy designs, A/B dual-feed setups and automatic transfer-switch support.
Those options make the system less a single appliance than a cooling template for different resilience and facility architectures.
Operators can tune the CDU for available power paths, redundancy requirements and equipment placement while keeping one platform family across changing AI server generations.
The environmental envelope also matters for operators trying to run liquid cooling in more demanding rooms.
CDU 2.X supports facility inlet temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius, or 113 degrees Fahrenheit, so adoption still depends on how each site matches cooling capacity, redundancy and operating temperature to its AI infrastructure plan.
