Google Adds Gemini Agent To Search Ads In India Beta
Google launched Business Agent for Leads in India as a Gemini-powered Search ad format that can chat with users on the search page. It cited $77.25 billion in first-quarter ad revenue and several India ad metrics, while the public record still lacks pricing, wider rollout dates or independent lead-quality validation.

Google is putting a Gemini-powered agent inside Search ads in India, allowing users to question an advertiser’s AI assistant without leaving the search page.
The Business Agent for Leads format is rolling out in beta, with the agent trained on the advertiser’s website and designed to turn conversations into qualified leads, Indian Express Technology reported.
Search Agents Move Into Live Customer Conversations
Indian edtech platform Upgrad received early access to Business Agent for Leads to engage prospective students.
Google did not disclose conversion results from that deployment.
The company also introduced Ask Advisor, a Gemini-powered agent that gives marketers personalised recommendations based on information gathered from Google Ads, Google Analytics and Google Marketing Platform.
Merchant Center support is planned next.
Roma Datta Chobey, Google India’s Managing Director for Connected Consumer Commerce, said Gemini is becoming the engine across the company’s advertising products as Google moves from marketing automation toward marketing intelligence.
Campaign Tools Connect Briefs, Data And Creative
Google upgraded Asset Studio so advertisers can generate brand-accurate text, image and video ads through natural-language descriptions.
Users can also import marketing briefs, reference images and brand guidelines to customise the generated assets.
AI Brief interprets the nuance in marketing briefs, refers to brand guardrails and displays real-time ad previews that advertisers can adjust.
Dynamic Remarketing builds on Retention Only Mode in Performance Max to re-engage high-value lapsed or loyal customers with tailored creative.
Google said AI-driven search is changing how people interact with advertising interfaces.
Queries in AI Mode are three times longer than traditional search queries.
In India, 84 per cent of users reported making faster decisions and 87 per cent reported making more confident decisions using AI Mode.
Google also said Gemini reduces irrelevant ads by 40 per cent.
Chobey said longer and deeper queries give brands more opportunities to match user intent with AI.
YouTube Deployment Links Automation To Reported Results
YouTube BrandStack, an automated solution conceptualised and built in India, combines campaign planning, buying and measurement.
Axis Max Life Insurance was the first company to deploy it alongside YouTube Connected TV during the cricket season.
Google said Axis Max Life saw an 18.4 per cent surge in brand searches and captured 23 per cent more quality leads, outperforming traditional TV markets.
Google also said YouTube delivers 1.9 times more return on investment of total media than traditional OTT platforms and linear TV.
The company launched YouTube Affiliate Partnerships Boost, which lets brands incorporate creator content about their products into marketing campaigns.
Asked about the effect of AI-generated ad assets on the creator economy, Google said creators and AI both have important roles because authentic storytelling remains important for building brand trust.
Commerce And Measurement Tools Widen The Rollout
Google is working with Indian e-commerce firms, including Walmart-backed Flipkart, to bring its Universal Commerce Protocol to India.
Launched in January, UCP is an open standard intended to provide a common language between AI agents and online shopping systems.
AI Max for Shopping uses Merchant Center feed context to understand products and improve campaign impact.
Google said AI Max for Search Campaigns is currently its fastest-growing AI-powered Search Ads product.
Demand Gen has expanded to Google Maps, allowing advertisers to reach potential customers near or entering a store.
Meridian, Google’s open-source Marketing Mix Model, is now integrated into Google Analytics 360 for cross-channel and first-party data analysis.
Merchant Center’s new AI performance insights tool, which will show how products perform across AI Mode, AI Overviews and the Gemini app, is rolling out in the coming months.
