Globe Telecom Puts 2.8x Return On AI Investments
Globe Telecom has measured PHP1.2 billion in benefits from AI initiatives, led by customer revenue gains and cost avoidance, as it shifts from adoption metrics to business outcomes.

TelecomTV reports that Globe Telecom has put a 2.8x return figure on its artificial intelligence investments, giving the Philippine operator a financial benchmark for tools it says are now moving beyond adoption metrics.
The company has measured PHP1.2 billion, or about $19.2 million, in benefits from generative AI and AI and machine-learning initiatives as of August 2026.
Globe framed the total as evidence that AI programs are beginning to produce business outcomes across revenue, cost avoidance and employee productivity.
The largest portion is commercial.
AI-powered customer and sales initiatives generated more than PHP825 million, or about $13.2 million, in incremental revenue.
Those systems are being used to tailor offers and experiences across Globe Rewards, roaming, lending and postpaid services, linking the operator's AI work to customer engagement rather than treating it as a separate technology project.
Cost avoidance contributed another PHP368 million, or about $5.9 million.
The savings came from initiatives in finance, customer engagement, marketing technology and order management, where Globe has embedded AI into existing processes to solve operational problems and change how work is handled.
The return calculation sits against a broader growth backdrop.
Globe ended June with 67.7 million mobile customers and 2.4 million fixed broadband customers.
First-half revenue reached PHP85.4 billion, or $1.36 billion, while EBITDA was PHP44.9 billion, or $710 million; both figures were 6% higher than a year earlier.
Globe has also reorganized leadership around the technology.
Anton Reynaldo Bonifacio, named chief AI officer in May 2024, was most recently appointed chief intelligence and trust officer with responsibility for AI, data, cybersecurity and digital policy.
The structure puts measurement, security and governance under the same executive brief as the operator expands use cases.
Chief executive Carl Cruz said the company wants AI to be judged by improvements to customer experience, employee workflows and business results, not by the number of users.
Globe also claims enterprise AI adoption of 90% as of August 2026, making the return figure part of a broader internal push to measure value rather than deployment alone.
The operator is one of 56 carriers tracked in TelecomTV's AI-Native Telco Index.
For Globe, the early scorecard is now defined by measurable benefits of PHP1.2 billion, led by PHP825 million in revenue gains and PHP368 million in avoided costs.
