Simple Energy Round Lifts Indian Startup Funding To $233.6 Million
Indian startups raised $233.6 million across 16 deals between September 28 and October 2, with Simple Energy’s $180 million Series C accounting for most of the weekly funding total.

Indian startups raised $233.6 million across 16 deals in the final week of September, with one electric-vehicle financing round doing most of the work.
Inc42’s weekly funding tracker covered deals announced between September 28 and October 2 and showed a 14.9% increase in capital from the previous week, even as the number of deals fell 23.8%.
Simple Energy dominated the list with a $180 million Series C round on September 30, giving cleantech the top sector position for the week.
The electric vehicle maker’s backers included Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani Family Office, Haran Family Office, angel investor Amit Mishra and Simple Energy executives Suhas Rajkumar and Ankit Gupta, with Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani Family Office listed as lead investor.
The next largest disclosed deal was much smaller.
Gravity, a real estate services startup, raised $15 million from 3one4 Capital, Info Edge Ventures, Alteria Capital and Genesia Ventures.
Seeds Fincap and Balwaan Krishi each raised $10.4 million, placing fintech lending and agritech behind the proptech deal.
Arivihan followed with a $10.2 million Series A backed by Accel, Prosus Ventures and several angel investors.
That concentration shaped the weekly totals.
Cleantech led the funding chart because Simple Energy’s round alone accounted for more than three quarters of the disclosed capital.
Proptech ranked second on Gravity’s financing, while agritech and fintech shared the next tier at $10.4 million each.
Edtech’s share came from Arivihan’s Series A.
Smaller consumer and enterprise rounds filled out the rest of the table.
EDT raised $2.4 million in pre-Series A funding from Sauce.VC, Alteria Capital and several operators.
Banglore Watch Company raised $1.4 million in seed funding, Alive App raised $1 million, Vytalyou raised $936,000, Primerry raised $738,000, Zaperon raised $728,000 and Aignosis raised $416,000.
Four other startups—Unveilr AI, FIG Living, Arovia and Keploy—listed investors without disclosed round sizes.
Ecommerce led deal activity rather than capital raised.
Four ecommerce startups together raised $3.8 million, while early-stage seed and pre-seed companies raised $3.3 million across four deals.
Alteria Capital appeared as the most active investor in the weekly tracker, backing three startups.
Beyond the weekly deal table, capital formation continued through new funds and accelerators.
WEH Ventures reached an initial close for fund three while seeking a ₹250 crore corpus and a final close by mid-2027.
Peak XV Partners opened Surge’s twelfth batch with 18 companies in fields that include AI, robotics, space, consumer, healthcare and fintech; seven of the companies are based in India.
Acquisition and IPO activity gave the week a second track.
ITC finished taking over Yoga Bar parent Sproutlife Foods after purchasing the outstanding 52.5% stake for roughly ₹645 crore.
Moneyview began trading at ₹55.6 on the BSE, 64% above its ₹34 issue price, and at ₹55 on the NSE, almost 62% higher.
AceVector drew 4.93 times subscription for its ₹420 crore IPO, Tonbo Imaging secured SEBI approval for an IPO structured only as an offer for sale, Cars24 pointed to an April 2027 reverse-flip completion, and StockGro parent AssetGro Fintech used the confidential route for a planned ₹2,500 crore public issue.
Listed-company transactions rounded out the funding picture.
MobiKwik cofounder and CFO Upasana Taku purchased 1.07 lakh more shares for ₹2.1 crore, lifting her holding to 10.24% from 10.11%.
Ola Electric received board clearance to raise as much as ₹1,000 crore through a rights issue, while final terms are still pending.
SBI Mutual Fund’s purchase of 1.18 crore Swiggy shares was valued above ₹300.6 crore and took its holding to about 5.1%.
Jio Financial Services and Allianz added ₹640 crore to their general insurance joint venture through a rights issue.
