PayMongo Uses Datadog to Shorten Payment Incident Response
PayMongo consolidated observability and security on Datadog as payment volumes grew, saying the setup resolves 75 percent of incidents before they reach merchants.

PayMongo is using Datadog’s observability and security platform to keep its payments infrastructure stable as transaction volumes climb, ITNews Asia reported, turning a growing reliability problem into a single operating view for engineering and security teams.
The Philippine fintech provides payment acceptance, capital and financial management services to businesses.
Its operations run entirely in the cloud, and the company processes billions of dollars in payment volume each month.
That scale has become harder to manage.
Transaction volumes have grown several times over the past 18 months, while monitoring and security had been split across separate tools.
For a payments provider, that fragmentation creates a practical risk: an outage or slow response can interrupt checkout for merchants that depend on the platform to collect customer payments.
PayMongo’s consolidation centers on Datadog as a shared view of applications, infrastructure and payment flows.
Engineering teams can monitor service health across the stack instead of stitching together signals after a problem has already affected merchants.
The operational result is the strongest part of the deployment.
PayMongo now resolves 75 percent of incidents before they reach merchants, and mean time to restore has moved from hours to minutes.
Those figures show the project as more than a dashboard replacement; it changes when the company can see trouble and how quickly it can act.
The workflow also reaches into payment routing.
If a payment partner becomes unavailable, PayMongo can detect the outage, alert merchants and pause affected payment methods.
That kind of response reduces the chance that a customer reaches a broken checkout path while teams diagnose the issue.
Security is being folded into the same operating model.
As PayMongo added more merchants, payment methods and engineers, the company’s attack surface expanded.
The deployment brings cloud security posture management, cloud SIEM and attack surface management into the same environment used for application observability.
For a fintech business, the point is not only cleaner tooling.
A larger merchant base and more payment options create more places where reliability and security can fail.
PayMongo’s bet is that combining those signals gives its teams earlier warning and a faster path from detection to action.
The immediate evidence is measurable: billions of dollars in monthly payment volume, several-times transaction growth over 18 months, 75 percent of incidents handled before merchant impact and restore times cut from hours to minutes.
