Nettle Raises $4.8 Million To Expand AI Insurance Inspections
Irish-founded Nettle raised a $4.8 million seed round led by MTech Capital to expand its AI insurance inspection platform across the US and Europe.

Silicon Republic reported that Irish-founded Nettle has raised $4.8 million in an oversubscribed seed round, giving the AI insurance technology start-up new capital to expand its risk-inspection platform in the US and Europe.
MTech Capital, an investor focused on the insurance sector, led the round.
Sure Valley Ventures, Portfolio Ventures, Ventures Together and angel investors also joined, while Project A Ventures invested on a super pro rata basis.
The seed financing lifts Nettle's total funding to $6.8 million after a $2 million pre-seed round in March.
The round is its second disclosed raise.
The transaction backs a platform built for commercial insurance inspections, where carriers need property and risk data before underwriting or loss-control decisions.
Nettle's workspace uses AI for remote risk identification, guided inspections, mobile evidence analysis and report generation, with the company claiming inspections can be completed up to five times faster.
The workflow standardises data collection for different participants, analyses submitted evidence and produces risk scores.
That positions the product around risk-engineering operations rather than consumer insurance distribution or policy sales.
Earlier this year, Allianz Türkiye became a Nettle client for commercial property risk engineering work.
Co-founder Jack Miller wrote that the decision followed a pilot in which risk engineers recorded up to a threefold improvement in property-inspection speed.
Nettle was founded in 2024 by Miller and Katya Kinane, who met while working at QuantumBlack, McKinsey's AI arm.
The London-based company also has offices in New York, and Kinane is a Trinity College Dublin computer science graduate.
The new funding is earmarked for US and European expansion and for growing engineering and go-to-market teams.
Miller said Nettle's platform turns loss control into a competitive advantage, while MTech founder and managing partner Kevin McLoughlin said global insurers are adopting the product with minimal integration effort.
For insurers, the fresh round leaves Nettle trying to convert pilot-level speed gains into a broader operating footprint across large commercial risk inspections.
