Lava Sandbox Tests €500M Battery Tokenisation For German Storage

Tokenised Financing Starts With A 6 MW Battery Site

A target of up to €500 million for German battery storage assets has moved Electric Blue's tokenisation plan into Lava Network's Tokenization Sandbox, The Next Web reported.

Lava Foundation said the first site is planned at 6 MW / 18 MWh in Oranienbaum-Wörlitz in Saxony-Anhalt, with commercial operation due in late 2026 or early 2027.

The full plan would leave the programme with about 580 MW of batteries and around 1,750 MWh available for storage if the build-out is completed.

Germany's storage gap is the operating backdrop for the tokenisation test.

Fraunhofer ISE put installed battery storage at roughly 29.8 GWh and estimated that the country will need 100–170 GWh by 2030.

Lava Opens The Sandbox To Real-World Asset Issuers

Lava Network's role is not to own the batteries.

Its decentralised RPC and API infrastructure is the connectivity layer that applications use to communicate with blockchain networks without depending on one centralised provider.

The sandbox gives selected institutions access to that connectivity before they decide whether to issue or settle assets on live blockchain rails.

Lava Foundation said institutional applications rose above 40 after the programme opened in June.

Nimrod Knoller, head of the Lava Foundation, said the sandbox was created to help institutions move beyond theoretical discussions and evaluate tokenisation in real-world environments.

The Pipeline Extends Beyond Energy Storage

The same cohort includes BHL's review of Alba Bay, a Dominican Republic development valued at $5.4 billion.

Israeli entrepreneur Yossi Abadi leads the planned project, which covers roughly 40 million square metres and about 40,000 residential units.

Other participants push the sandbox towards financial-market and commodity workflows.

Bitbond, APPLAYER and AEREDIUM are working on payments and settlement; SHIFT is looking at tokenised bonds and equities; and Toto Finance tokenises physical commodities including gold, silver, copper and diamonds.

Electric Blue describes €500 million as the programme's financing target.

The Next Web reported that the first battery site has a named location and commissioning window; German regulatory approval and investor participation will determine how much of that target becomes deployed capital.
