FYDY Funding Talks Put $12 Million Behind Stealth AI Research
Stealth AI research startup FYDY is negotiating a $12 million maiden round from Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst as it builds OpenScientist and a frontier AI team split across India and the US.

Inc42 reported that stealth AI research startup FYDY is negotiating a $12 million first funding round, about ₹115 crore, with Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst lined up as co-leads.
The transaction is still at an advanced-talks stage.
FYDY did not answer questions from the publication, and neither investment firm responded, so the financing should be read as a proposed maiden round rather than a closed deal.
Fuzzy Dynamics, the company behind FYDY, was incorporated in 2025 and is headquartered in San Francisco.
Its cofounder roster includes Zeeshan Ahmed, Alapan Chaudhuri, Anvay Karmore, Shivansh Subramanian and Tanishq Chaudhary, while employees are distributed across India and the US.
The team is hiring researchers and engineers as it works in stealth.
Company materials frame the startup as a frontier AI research business focused on “cognitive machines” that can learn continuously from experience, with a long-term goal of safe artificial superintelligence able to understand and act in the physical world.
A second asset in the funding story is OpenScientist, FYDY’s AI research studio.
The startup first built the private-beta platform for its own work and is now making it available to a small group of labs and researchers that need tools for paper search, database exploration, mathematical problem-solving, experiments and data analysis.
The research agenda spans reinforcement learning, world models, robotics and neuroscience.
FYDY links those fields to machine cognition, and its public profile highlights founders and staff with ICPC World Finalist and Physics and Astronomy Olympiad backgrounds.
The investor context gives the round a wider AI-science frame.
Lightspeed India Partners led a $9 million August seed round for Discovered Materials, which is building AI agents for semiconductor materials research, simulation, synthesis and experimental validation.
General Catalyst was also among the backers when Sol Foundry came out of stealth last month with $4 million, alongside Kunal Shah, Peercheque, DeVC and Nexus Venture Partners.
The proposed FYDY raise would land in a quarter when AI dominated Indian startup financing.
Inc42’s Q3 2026 funding report counted $438 million across 35 AI startup deals, a 265% year-on-year increase, while noting that capital remained concentrated mainly in companies building AI applications.
