AWS Opens Well-Architected Agent Preview For Cloud Reviews
AWS has opened a public preview of Well-Architected Agent, an AI service that reviews cloud environments, prioritizes recommendations and supplies remediation steps across cost, security, performance and resilience.

AWS has opened a public preview of Well-Architected Agent, an AI-powered service for reviewing cloud environments and turning Well-Architected findings into prioritized remediation work.
The preview gives customers a workflow that starts with an agent profile rather than a manual checklist.
The profile defines which AWS accounts, applications or Regions the service can monitor, which optimization pillars to focus on, and what permissions are required before the agent can read resource data.
Once the profile is created, AWS expects recommendations to be generated within 24 hours.
The service correlates utilisation metrics, resource configurations and application topology, then checks the environment against Well-Architected best practices across more than 65 AWS services.
The stated goal is to produce recommendations that reflect declared business goals rather than generic review items.
The operating sequence is built around three steps: create the profile, run or receive the architecture review, and remediate the recommendations.
Customers can set goals for cost optimization, performance, resilience and security, then provision customer-managed IAM roles so the agent can inspect configurations, utilisation metrics and topology.
Well-Architected Agent can also review pre-deployment workloads.
Teams can upload infrastructure-as-code projects in Terraform, AWS CloudFormation or AWS Cloud Development Kit, choose a Well-Architected lens and have the package analyzed before the workload is deployed.
Application context can be added through accounts, Regions, AWS services, tags and application details, narrowing the scope for more relevant recommendations.
The remediation layer is the clearest change from a conventional architecture review.
Findings are ranked against the customer's selected pillars and declared goals, and each recommendation includes automation-ready remediation material.
A selected recommendation shows the suggested fix, the affected AWS resources, the expected impact and the relevant trade-off.
For implementation, the console can present updated infrastructure-as-code templates, CLI commands or step-by-step console actions.
If a team chooses an updated IaC template, the agent provides code changes that can be copied into an existing codebase.
API access is also available for teams that want recommendations inside development or operations workflows, including through AWS MCP Server and plugins in AI coding tools.
The existing AWS Well-Architected Tool remains available for manual reviews and user-defined lenses.
The new agent sits beside that process as an AI-assisted review and remediation path, not as a replacement for every architecture evaluation.
Preview access is limited to US East in Northern Virginia, US East in Ohio and US West in Oregon.
Customers can onboard workloads from any AWS commercial Region, but the service is delivered by AWS Support and requires an AWS Support plan.
